There have always been a percentage of any human society that is pretty sad, twisted and just plain nasty. Some people are born that way, others become such over the years. Perhaps it is one failing after another finally turning them into spiteful petty people or it could simply be the way they are wired.
We have all known such people. You say ‘hello’ and they just look at you as if to say ‘who gave you the right to speak to me?’ At first you might feel you have done something wrong, said the wrong thing, somehow offended this person. No. The truth is this person hates the world, hates themselves and is quite simply ‘anti-social’. They probably function well enough if tested by mental health professionals and of course many of them do rate highly on IQ tests. But that doesn’t address the way they are and the way they interact with society. Then there are those who are mentally ill or unbalanced, they are sociopaths and they are very, very dangerous people.
That danger doesn’t have to be in the form of a classic ‘serial killer’ model. It can be expressed through obnoxious behaviour and viscious, often anonymous, attacks on others they see as a threat or somehow resent their success or standing in the community. There doesn’t have to be any rationale to this, they are by definition irrational people behaving irrationally.
The advent of the internet has given these anti-social sad sacks a very handy outlet to the world. They can not only express their anger and frustration but they can harm others and do so in relative anonymity and safety. At least that is what they think. While they post on forums and set up blogs and web sites attacking the good name and reputation of their chosen victims, they forget they may have left their non-virtual back door wide open.
As anonymous as they may think they are online, they are known to somebody. While they hide behind ISPs and usernames and all the rest, they forget they are known and so too are their families. They have wives and children who are usually unaware of what a pathetic creature their father and husband really is. Many might have an inkling, some might even fully realise but after all, they are their ‘loved ones’. It is funny how the loved ones of a sociopath are somehow sacred and not to be involved but the loved ones of their victims are all part of the game. Fair game. They are affected by the nastiness of these swine as the victims themselves, often more so. Employers are often contacted and told a swathe of lies and half truths. Allegations are made to loved ones about infidelity and pedophilia and other horrendous accusations. Yet these same accusers scream the loudest if a victim plays the game by the sociopath’s own rules and involves their family, their loved ones.
The thing is, Iliadis, you have family and you have vulnerabilities and while you continue to attack others who are innocent of your obscene allegations, then they are at risk. At risk of finding out all about you and your sordid activities. And when they know, everyone who knows you will know. There will be nowhere you can hide because all doors will be slammed shut on you. All doors. Even the ones you think never will be. As ye sow, so ye shall reap. You are about to reap a whirlwind, Iliadis.
Right now it is so silly and inaccurate that I actually have a giggle when I look at it. Most of it is complete work of fiction and I am thankful that so many others can see that now.
